Love with Food Box #10

subscription boxes By November 20, 2015 Tags: , , No Comments

This month’s box seemed to come out of nowhere: timeΒ is flying by faster and faster these days. This particular box seemed dominated by brands I have previously enjoyed, sprinkled with a few new items. But enough chatter, let’s get into the box!

Sweet Potato Chips by Dirty Potato Chips – I had heard of these before, but never tried them out. And because of my love for all things sweet potato (well, almost) I had no qualms about giving these a try. I definitely wasn’t disappointed; the chips were crunchy, not too greasy or oily, and seasoned adequately. The company, based in Memphis, TN, has been at it since 1987, and seem to be doing a fine job of making a common snacking favorite not quite so bad for you. Their chips – available in a wide variety of flavors, from Sea Salt to Smoky Chipotle – are free of the usual baddies like GMOs, gluten and hydrogenated oils, but thankfully has loads of flavor.Β or on Twitter @dirtyschips

Honey Grahams Sticks by Back To Nature – I had tasted the products of this great brand back in the spring, and talked about it here. Their Honey Graham Sticks were delicious, not too dry or too sweet, and would be ideal for dipping. or on IG #backtonature

A Few Morsels…

Uncategorized By November 17, 2015 No Comments

Hello to all my loyal and long-time readers, as well as the newcomers. I hope you have been (or are) enjoying the blog and its content. I wanted to update you on a few things that are coming up for the blog, so hopefully there will be only pleasant surprises for you in the future!

In December – Last year my focus for posts in December were culturally significant subjects relating to various holiday traditions. I have decided that this year, for the three posts I will be doing in December (there won’t be a post the week of December 21st), I will be featuring locally-sourced products in my blog. If you weren’t aware, I hail from the state of Kentucky, and I feel that over the past several years, the state has put forth a tremendous effort to creating extremely high-quality products within our borders that benefit us not only in a cultural sense, but economically as well. Some items are new to the market, others have been around for many years. I hope that by doing this I can shed a little light on what the people of Kentucky are creating and sharing with the rest of the world.

In January – As I mentioned before, there will be a few changes coming to the blog in the new year. My posting schedule may change somewhat, and I may start to add extra posts during the week as well. While my subject matter will continue to be centered around food, I will be including other related topics as well, such as dΓ©cor and perhaps some etiquette posts, too. I also hope to do some “remodeling” as far as the appearance of the blog, in an attempt to keep things fresh and interesting.

So stay tuned for all the changes, and bear with me, as this continues to be a labor of love for me, and an ongoing work in progress. Happy Eating!

Frozen, But Still Flavorful – Good Food Made Simple

Uncategorized By November 9, 2015 Tags: , , , No Comments

A trip down the frozen food aisle can be tempting. It can also be somewhat challenging if you’re looking to avoid trans fats, preservatives, and other artificial things that you wouldn’t be able to pronounce if you had a PhD inΒ  chemistry. Keeping all that in mind, my attention was caught by a brand that I had seen in passing before but had yet to sample. And since my life of late has (like the lives of many others) been extremely busy, the all-important meal of breakfast sometimes has to be sacrificed in the name of time. So I snapped up a couple of products from Good Food Made Simple and wanted to share my experience with you.

Love with Food Box #9

Ok everyone, another month has arrived, and with it another delicious and interesting Love With Food Box. This has not only become a highlight for me each month, but has also compelled me to start researching other food subscription boxes (I’ll keep you updated on my decision.) In the meantime, let’s take a look at what arrived in my current box.

Cheddar and Pepper Puffed Corn by Cosmo’s Creations – this was a company I had noticed before but had not yet had the chance to try. Begun in 2004, it was later purchased by the 4 Him Food Group, further developing the variety (and reach) of their product. They specialize in puffed corn snacks, guaranteed to be without hulls, kernels, gluten or trans fats, and is produced from non-GMO corn. I received the Cheddar and Pepper flavor, but two other savory and four sweet flavors are available, including Sri Racha and Caramel Apple. The puffs were very tasty; light and not greasy as some run-of-the-mill cheese puffs can be. Definitely worth checking out. on Twitter @CosmosCreations or IG #cosmoscreations
