I debated with myself for days about doing this post. I try really hard not to complain a lot, although I’ve been told I have plenty to complain about. But I thought if I could write about my experience, maybe other folks won’t feel like they are going through this alone, and I’ll feel better getting some stuff off my chest.
Recently I got the yen for some baked goodies, so I had to power through the after effects of a (very) recent chemo treatment and get back in the kitchen. Something about turning on that oven makes me want to experiment, and it’s just not Christmas to me without at least one batch of gingerbread. Due to my present state of feeling like I got run over by a reindeer, I went the very easy route and use a boxed gingerbread mix. It tasted just as good and took about a third the time of going from scratch. So here they are in all their store-bought glory, another edition of the From My Kitchen series, little warm spiced Christmas bombs.
And just like that, Christmas is here. Well, very close anyway. And many of us may still be looking for a few last-minute gift ideas. So I thought I would throw a few easy options down for you if you’ve got any female friends or family that you need to check off your list. Some of these may seem like no-brainers, but in the stressful rush that is the holiday season, even the simplest ideas can fly right out of your head. Whether it’s a stocking stuffer, a hostess gift for a holiday party or just a little extra something, these five gift ideas are sure to bring a smile to the faces of the ladies in your life.
Well here it is everyone; Christmas, staring us right in the face. It definitely caught me off guard, and my holiday schedule – shopping, decorating, cooking, and oh yeah, cancer – is just as full as ever. And in the middle of all the hubbub, hard work, and holly-jollyness, I think we deserve a little treat. I don’t think I’ve ever done a post about cocktails, but I do think it’s high time that I did. So contained herein is a recipe for a big ol’ glass of Christmas cheer, courtesy of our friends at Bulleit Bourbon (P.S. this is not a sponsored post. I just happened to have some Bulleit around the house). And it’s snazzy without being too complicated, so you can mix this up for two people or twenty without sweating in your Santa hat. Enjoy!
Hi guys! I’m continuing my holiday hop this week with another stop at an awesome Lexington shop that you should keep in mind for Christmas gifting ideas this year. I’ve been going to Street Scene on Regency Rd. for several years, mostly because I love and appreciate vintage things (not just clothing), and also because I love and appreciate shopping, ha! So if you’ve never been to this super nifty little shop, or you’ve driven by and wondered about it, stick around to hear all about it.
Well boys and girls, it appears as though the holiday season is upon us again. It feels like the rest of this year happened in about a span of ten minutes or so, at least for me personally. And now it’s time to think about giving gifts to our friends, co-workers and loved ones. We all know how beneficial it is to shop locally in one’s community – it can be a boost for everyone involved. So I thought that maybe over the next few weeks I would hop around Lexington and check out businesses that are locally owned and operated, and maybe feature some unique (or classic) gift ideas.
